マルチな意味を持つ、"gut"

「ガッツポーズ」でおなじみの、「ガッツ」。
でも、その語源は、
gut
the long tube in the body of a person or animal, through which food moves during the process of digesting food:
つまり、腸のこと。

日本語で使われている「ガッツ」は、こちら↓

おなかの底から、やる気を出して！みたいな意味なのでしょうか。

ウルフルズから嵐まで、ガッツをテーマに励ましてくれるアーティストも多々思い浮かびます。
ちなみに私は真っ先に、ウルフルズが脳裏に甦ってくる世代ですが笑
頑張って！の意味で、ガッツ出せよ！のように使ったり。

ちなみに、「よっしゃーーー！！！」でおなじみの、あの「ガッツポーズ」は・・・

guts poseは、完全なる和製英語ですね。。

② gut: 直感

gut feeling/reaction informal
a strong belief about someone or something that cannot completely be explained and does not have to be decided by reasoning:

I have a gut feeling that the relationship won't last.

sb's gut (informal)
​a way of deciding what should be done or what is right, that is based on how someone feels rather than thinking about reasons:

My head said that I should go but my gut said I should stay.
I went with my gut and chose Sarah to lead the team.

直感を信じろ！というとき、腸の具合で判断！という身体感覚が、面白いです。なんとも言えない、底知れない感覚＝おなかの底にわいてくるもの、というとらえ方なのでしょう。
collegeのクラスメートによると、フランス語では、これが"ass"に由来する言葉だとか…！！

日本語ではなんだろう、と考えてみました。
「第六感」「直感」に該当する、body parts…
たとえば…鼻？「頼れる人の臭いをかぎ分ける、末っ子生まれつきの嗅覚」
または…目？「あの人は、いつでも相手の心の奥底までお見通しだなぁ」
全然関係ありませんが、gutといえば、「恋人のハートをつかむなら、胃袋をつかめ！」なんて表現も思い浮かんできましたが、

どれもこれも、「直感」とは違うような違うような(^^;)
私の日本語の語彙力の限界を感じました・・。
